Kosmonaut's version of the Liberty Ship classic Northern Angel is now available on the cd compilation matinée 50,
you can hear an alternate version of the song here northernangelmix1.mp3, it
includes the later erased studio banter.On the same CD The Liberty Ship turn Desert Song into pure 80's synth pop, Geoff thinks it sounds like OMD but Stephen prefers
to think it sounds more like Joy Division's Atmosphere!

Continuing the bands series of cd-r releases on their own porterfield 73 record label , the original 4-track version of the song
she walks away is now avialable for members of the mailing list. This version of the song was recorded in a day on a Fostex X-15 way back in 1989
at the time Geoff was a member of the Lavender Faction and Stephen just wanted to be in a band, any band. The drum machine was borrowed from Graeme or Marc Elston
unfortunately they didn't get it back as it blew up on it's return journey, actually someone plugged in the wrong adaptor and it received a little too much voltage and that
was the end of it, Stephen still has it if anyone thinks they can fix it?
They actually released the song under the name bulldozer clarts on a compilation tape called positively teenage. They lied about doing a tour with the pale saints which perked up the ears of Albert Yu who was just setting up his own record label
and asked if they'd like to be on it, unfortuantely Geoff had other commitments with Lavender Faction so couldn't continue and it took them another 10 years to get back together
and do some recording.You can download an MP3 on the sounds page and hopefully enjoy the early lo-fi sounds of kosmonaut before they were kosmonaut .
New Gig Page
Not exactly sure when kosmonaut will play live again as Karl, Jonathan and Richard have buggered off and formed their own band but

Porterfield 73 (the studio) was turned into a mastering suite for a few days in August while stephen sprinkled fairy dust all over the Liberty Ship LP
"Tide" which is being released by Matinée in October. He has made it sound chunkier!
